Steve Lamza's Family Joins HimOn April 20, 1897, about a year after Steve Lamza came to Texas with the second batch of Lamza's, his wife Katerina and their children Susanna and Frank arrived in Galveston on the S.S. Roland. According to the ship's manifest, they left Bremen on March 31st and apparently sailed directly to Galveston. If you click on the picture below, you will see a full-sized scan of the manifest where you'll see "Kata Lamza" on Line 12 and the two children listed immediately after her. An interesting item to note is the family listed immediately above Kata Lamza is headed by "Marie Zavada" from "Laz" who are also going to meet her husband in Shiner, Texas. Looking back at the manifest of the Ems, there is an "Adam Zavada" who is listed in among all the Lamza's on that trip. So, I would say it is a safe assumption that he is probably the husband she is going to meet. If that is the case, then we have two trips with Lamza's and Zavada's together and it's worth investigating what their relationship might be. ShipsList.com has the following description of the S.S. Roland:
